We are geared up for the 2009 Harrison County Relay for Life at Maverick Stadium in Marshall, Texas Friday April 3rd from 6 pm to 6am Saturday April 4th. We welcome you to join us! We are proud to say that again we are silver level sponsors for the Texans Cookin’ For The Cure relay team.
This year we are even more determined due to the personal loses that we have continued to experience the last year to date and my recurrence of cancer. We were unable to publish a new cookbook this year, but we do have a few Chili, Soup, Stew & Cornbread and Down Home Cookin’ remaining for purchase. Our non-profit organization has a very special friend that handmade a beautiful quilt for us to sell, and as always all proceeds go to the
American Cancer Society. Our dear friend, Marti Stricklin, shares our mission and has expressed that in her art of quilting. She presented Texans Cookin’ For The Cure with “Hearts in Motion a Quilt of Hope”. The quilt will be placed on auction at the Relay. We as an organization have placed a reserve on the quilt as a safeguard to assure the deserved respect is given to the artist, as well as assuring that the most amount possible is donated to the ACS.
We hope to see you at the Relay. Walk in honor of, or in memory of someone special to you that has encountered a battle with cancer. Or, just come out and see what the Relay for Life is about. The survivor lap is at 6pm and the luminaries are after dark.
We wish to extend a special thank you to our team captains Anne Schultz and Michele Walker as well as to every team member. Thank you for all of your hard work as volunteers for the ACS and making our organization proud!
Please look for our banner and camp-sight!
Sincerely, Darlene
